Win at Banovo Brdo: Šapić Brings Down His Former Club

IMT's players opened the 2026/27 season perfectly. In round 1 of the Mozzart Bet Serbian Super League, away at Čukarički at Banovo Brdo, our "tractor drivers" celebrated a 0:1 win.

GOAL FROM THE HOME SIDE'S FORMER CAPTAIN

The only goal of the match came in the 42nd minute. From a corner, Stefan Šapić rose highest and headed past Đorđe Nikolić. The assist was provided by young Vasilije Novičić.

The win carried extra significance from the fact that Šapić was Čukarički's captain until recently. His goal against his former club opened a new chapter in an IMT shirt.

A SOLID DEFENCE FROM THE FIRST MINUTE

The team, led by new head coach Zoran Popović, played a disciplined and focused match from start to finish. The hosts pushed hard in the closing stages, but the defence, marshalled by experienced goalkeeper Ognjen Čančarević, didn't allow an equaliser.

Three points at the start of the season are the best possible way to open the campaign.
